Gossip

"Hahaha."
The girls quiet laughter amongst themselves filled the almost empty girls bathroom. Only the three of them were in there. The three sophmore girls talked about the latest gossip in the school. This week it was about one of their fellow classmates, a girl named Holly who they had all liked until recently.
"She is such a skank. Did you hear about her and that one guy from out of town?"asked one girl to the others.
"Oh man. Ya, I heard.", another replied, even though she hadn't. But of course, she couldn't let the others know. So she added,
"I also heard shes dating his brother!"
"I heard about that too!", her friends squeeled in excitement.
"When did you find out?"
"I heard about it this morning. In first period study hall."
"Well, I heard about it last night."
"Did you hear about his friend too?"
"Yes!"
They all kept adding details to their faulty story, even though the entire thing was a lie. Pretty soon, the bell rang for class, and all of them went to their next class. Since all three of them had seperate classes, they all three told someone new the story. And all of those people told someone else.
By the end of the day, everyone in the entire school had heard about what happened, or what they thought happened but actually didn't.  But by the next week, the entire story had been forgotten about. It was old news, in the past, and nobody cared. The new gossip was about someone else, what happened over the weekend, and life in the school went on.

  1. Ah, you capture the silliness of high school gossip well! The dialogue is good! In future entries, focus on setting the scene and describing your characters too, Wyatt!
