Silent Treatment

We sat in silence for what seemed like hours. Or days even. My mom and I sat outside of the probation offricers office. One of my friends sat inside of the office, and my appointment was next. I was the last one in our group. Complete silence, with only the tick-tocking of the cloack and the traffic outside on the busy street could be heard. "Well, I hope you learned your lesson." My mom suddenly burst out, startling me. She didn't look up from the magazine she was reading. But she was right. I definately had learned my lesson. What I had learned was that the next time, my friends and I were going to have to be sneakier when we wanted to party. How stupid it was of us to think that we wouldn't get caught drinking in the park. Cops drive past the park multiple times every night, and last Friday was no exception. Finally, the door opened and my friend and his parents stepped out. The probation officer stepped out and said, "Allright, Ms. Parker, I'm ready for you." My mom and I rose out of our chairs and we walked into the dark office. It had no windows, and only the ceiling light lit up the room. "Please, have a seat." She smiled at us as we sat down onto her stiff wooden chairs in front of her desk. There were three chairs, and one remained empty between me and my mom. The third was probably supposed to be for the other parent. But I had no idea who my father was. I'm not even sure if my mom did. The probation officer started talking about my charges. And one of my sentencing requirments was that I had fifty hours of community service. So for the next six Saturday mornings I would be stuck doing community service. And every Monday I had to come back to her office to "check in" and talk about how everything was going. Great, I thought, this is sure going to suck. Finally when she was done, we made our way toward the door. "Allright then!" she said, too cheerfully, as I was walking out, "You stay out of trouble now!" Yeah right, I thought to myself, with a smirk on my face. I just won't get caught next time.

T.S.L.M.A.B

The silver lake made a beautiful sight to see on the warm summer night. The fieflies danced above the water and the two young lovers could see the reflections on the still as glass water.Andy was excited for what he was about to do. He was about to start the next chapter of his life.
"Isn't this great?" asked Andy.
"Yes, its gorgeous," replied his steady girlfriend of three years. Gina kissed him softly on the cheek.
"How was your dinner?"
"Oh it was really good. We went on our first date there, remember?"
"Yes, and you wore that beautiful red dress. You looked amazing."
"How can you remember that?"
"How could I forget?"
They laughed and kissed some more. Then they sat in silence for a while, watching the fireflies over the lake. All the while, Andy thinking about what was about to happen. He was excited and nervous and happy and scared all at the same time. Finally, he got off of the car and kneeled in front of her. He too her hand in his and asked,
"Gina, will you please marry me?"

Gossip

"Hahaha."
The girls quiet laughter amongst themselves filled the almost empty girls bathroom. Only the three of them were in there. The three sophmore girls talked about the latest gossip in the school. This week it was about one of their fellow classmates, a girl named Holly who they had all liked until recently.
"She is such a skank. Did you hear about her and that one guy from out of town?"asked one girl to the others.
"Oh man. Ya, I heard.", another replied, even though she hadn't. But of course, she couldn't let the others know. So she added,
"I also heard shes dating his brother!"
"I heard about that too!", her friends squeeled in excitement.
"When did you find out?"
"I heard about it this morning. In first period study hall."
"Well, I heard about it last night."
"Did you hear about his friend too?"
"Yes!"
They all kept adding details to their faulty story, even though the entire thing was a lie. Pretty soon, the bell rang for class, and all of them went to their next class. Since all three of them had seperate classes, they all three told someone new the story. And all of those people told someone else.
By the end of the day, everyone in the entire school had heard about what happened, or what they thought happened but actually didn't.  But by the next week, the entire story had been forgotten about. It was old news, in the past, and nobody cared. The new gossip was about someone else, what happened over the weekend, and life in the school went on.

Road Trip

As Katie walked out of her last class before the break, could hardly wait to hit the open road. She was very excited for this Spring break, as her and her two roomates were taking a road trip to California. The three of them had been talking about this trip ever since the beginning of the year. Katie ran to her room to pick up her bags that she had already packed the night before. When she got to the room, her two friends were already there waiting for her. "Hurry up!" they told her "Lets Go!". Soon, all the bags were packed and loaded into her friends brand new convertible. An "early graduation gift" her parents had called it. They looked over the road map and and decided the best route to follow. They lived in Southern Colorado and were planning to make it to LA by tomorrow night. But tonight, they planned to spend the night in Vegas. Katie had never been out West  before, and she often thought of what it would be like to swim in the ocean and lie on the sandy beaches. The three drove all day and finally just as the sun was almost completely lost over the horizon, they could see the soft glow of all the lights in Vegas. They got to their hotel and checked into the room. On the bed, they found three tiny bottles of rum, a gift from the hotel. They all said cheers and took the shots, the first of many more to come. As the night wore on, the three friends continued to party it up. The next morning, Katie awoke in her room, unsure of where she was. As the events of the night began to come back to her, she couldn't help but chuckle. What a great night it had been. She got up, showered, and decided to join her friends for breakfast downstairs. She could smell the delicious fumes of breakfast cooking as she rode down the elevator. When she got there her friends sat at a table, already half way through with their meal. Katie ate her breakfast quickly, and one hour later they were back on the road. They were on schedule to make it to LA by tonight, to begin their well deseved break.
